I'm with you pal. The stock market is a roller coaster. I don't trust that creep Paulson. As a former Goldman exec, he is the reason we're in this fix. As the current Treasury Secretary who refused to regulate the banks, Paulson solidifed the problem. It fries my brain to think that the fox is in charge of the hen house. |

How 'bout that BREEDERS CUP! All the media hype about Curlin reminded me of the hype surrounding Big Brown. I was smarter this time and crossed Curlin off my list. As a result I got a nice bump up on my bet from RAVENS PASS. Ha!
Sent off at 13-1 odds, Raven's Pass paid $29, $15.80 and $8.
Henrythenavigator, also based in Europe, returned $22 and $11.20, while Tiago was another three-quarters of a length back in third and paid $7 to show.
Poor old Curlin ended up in 4th place but Santa Anita Raceway got the last laugh. It kept all of Curlin's bad bets. Don't you just love a good horse race? |

Sweet! I bet Tiago to show so I hit it good this time. I lost on Henry the Navigator. Thought for sure he was going to win. But I won a lot more than I lost so it was a great race. |

That was a good race. I watched the Breeders Cup but I didn't place any bets this year. Too lazy to leave the house. But it did my heart good to see Ravens Pass come in first. I get so tired of listening to all those TV "experts" telling everybody which horses are going to win. They don't know any more than the rest of us. Still the TV coverage of all horse racing events has improved by light years. Watching any horse race is really interesting. I'd rather look at a horse anyday than look at Brent Musberger. |

| We're supposed to meet some friends at Balmoral this weekend. With this rotten weather, I'm not so sure if this is a good idea. Does anybody know if IDOT plows the roads around the park this time of year? I know towns in this state are doing a bad job in the suburbs. Does anybody know about Balmoral? |

In years past, IDOT always did a good job of plowing. Coming from Indiana, I always appreciated that IL did a better job of keeping the roads clean in winter. I would expect them to do a good job this year because of that exit off of I-94 has been completed.
You'll probably have to call Balmoral to ask them. This doesn't seem to be a good year for municiple funds anywhere. All towns seem to be cutting back on plowing and salting.
Balmoral Park is maybe 1.5 hours south of Chicago. All the information is on the web at www.balmoralpark.com/ |
